And the winner is...

Well, according to the ultrasound I had done last week there is only one little baby in my uterus surprisingly enough seeing as how I already feel and look like I'm pregnant at only 8 weeks. Craziness. Anyway, I haven't been able to scan in ultrasound pics yet, but I will so I promise! But for now, here's what's going on with the little one this week:

Raspberry.

Your baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

This week, your little tadpole is starting to look a little bit more human. Other exciting developments include:

Your baby's eyelids, ears, upper lip and the tip of his soon-to-be adorable button nose are forming.

Junior will also sprout webbed fingers and toes this week—which you'll be well aware of in a few months, as baby starts early gymnastics classes inside you.

Baby's tiny heart has separated into four distinct chambers and is really ticking now—at a rate of 150 beats per minute. That's more than twice your resting heart rate.

Your baby is now a little more than ½ inch long.

The suspense is killing me...

Ok...so it's Tuesday...Ultrasound is tomorrow and I can't wait! Work is getting so hard to sit through! Tomorrow morning is going to be even worse! From 8 to 11 I have to be at work and then over to the doctor's office for my 11:30 appointment. I REALLY hope they're running on time!

Week 7...

Busy Busy this week and the ultrasound is only 2 days away!!!

Just thought I would quickly update as to what is going on with baby this week:

Blueberry.

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

This week your baby's brain is growing at a mind-boggling 100 cells per minute within a see-through skull. If you could peer inside, you'd see those tiny brain cells growing and growing and growing.

More high points include:

Your baby's face is becoming more defined this week. A tiny mouth hole (which will be ready to wail before you know it!), tongue, nostrils and ear indentations are visible. His or her eyes are wide open, but he doesn't have irises (the colored part) yet.

Baby's arm buds are growing. At this point they look more like microscopic ping-pong paddles than arms. Baby's leg buds are also forming and will look like tiny paddles by the end of the week.

The umbilical cord—the connection between your baby and the placenta—is now visible.Your baby is now between 1/3 and 1/4 inch long—about the length of a Tic Tac and about as heavy as an eyelash. While that sounds tiny, he or she is approximately 10,000 times bigger than at conception. Crazy, huh?

We're gearing up for a busy weekend this weekend, so hopefully that will keep my mind off the excitement of getting to go in for our ultrasound on Wednesday! Mom and Dad are coming up tomorrow to help prep the house for some of the upcoming work that needs to be done before the baby comes. I also need to prep the house for the company we have coming Saturday night, so that means cleaning. Ick. Saturday we plan on going to Dayton to see Shawn's mom and grandma, but we're still undecided on what time exactly that will be happening since we have to be back at our house by 6:00 when our friends come over to play poker. Then UFC after that starting at 10. It's going to be a late night. Then Sunday starts softball practices. Though I won't be playing this year (I'm too inexperienced and it took too long to get pregnant to take any chances.), Shawn still will be and I will probably tag along to practices and games from time to time depending on energy level. Well, enough for now, but for those of you curious about what baby is up to now, here's a little update:-)

Sweet Pea.

Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks and chin. Those little hands and feet- still webbed like paddles- might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as yours!), and blood is starting to circulate.

This week starts a period of rapid cellular development for your baby-to-be, who looks like a mini tadpole, with a tiny head and tail. His or her eyes, ears and mouth have begun to form (though they're a little more Discovery Channel "creatures of the sea" documentary than Gerber Baby at this point).

Other exciting milestones include:
Your baby's heart is now beating to a regular beat, although it's still too faint to hear.
His or her arm buds are just beginning to, well, bud. They look like teensy swollen bumps at this point. In a few days, they'll resemble itsy-bitsy flippers.
Your baby has grown to ⅛ inch long—about the size of one of the chocolate sprinkles on your last cupcake.

We're having an ultrasound!

Well, I finally got the call from the doctor's office that we're all set and ready for an ultrasound to make sure everything is good to go. My levels are great. I went from 683 on Tuesday to 2084 today. So we're good. The bad news is that the soonest they can get me in for the ultrasound is Wednesday, April 22nd. And Shawn is going to be out of town for training so he's going to miss it. It kinda sucks, but I figure we should probably have one more ultrasound before the end, so we'll make sure he gets to be there for that one! So 12 more days and I will get to see our baby (or babies---it is possible) "in person" for lack of a better term. I can't wait:-)

waiting....waiting....waiting....

Got my blood drawn again this morning. Yay fun. I just love being poked with a needle 3 times in a week and a half. ;-p I went super early this morning in the hopes that they will get the results to my doctor's office before they close at noon today. Everybody cross your fingers for a number over 1500 because then I can stop getting blood drawn and we can do an ultrasound next week! Yay!!!

Needles, Sea Bands and Manicotti...Oh My

Well, after yesterday I feel fantastic today. I think I may have had a touch of something yesterday cause I felt in a fog all day. Today was much better...started off a little rough but after this morning, it got better. I went and got my blood drawn again today to check my hcg levels. They went from 31 last week up to 683 today. It has to be over 1500 for them to do an ultrasound, but since it doubles every 48 to 72 hours they want me to get my blood drawn again in 3 days...so hopefully there will be posted ultrasound pics very soon! I started wearing sea bands to help combat the morning sickness and it seems to be helping today. This must be how women who love being pregnant must feel. Must be nice. I figure today must be a fluke. I expect to be back to the nausea again tomorrow.:-) My co-worker took me out to lunch today at Burgundy's and we had a wonderful lunch. I had tomato basil bisque (oh my goooodness it was awesome) and some amazing manicotti. I think the baby is Italian. I have eated more spaghetti and pasta and tomato based things in the past 2 weeks than I have in the past 4 months!:-)

The Joys of Pregnancy

Well, it's official. I feel pregnant. I feel sick off and on all day, I have to pee every hour, my stomach itches, my back hurts, I'm EXHAUSTED, and I'm not sleeping well. I'm also constantly thirsty and nothing sounds good. But OH, it's so good to be pregnant, yucky symptoms and all...:-)
