school update (while i have time...)

Just wanted to give a quick update while I had a few minutes before I have to start running all around again today.

The kids have been in school for 2 weeks now and have been doing great.

Jarrin is bringing home good grades and has been excelling in his math homework. He just had his first spelling test on Friday, we have yet to see how he did on that, though he only missed 2 out of 20 words on his pretest (scattered and enormous...you can kind of forgive him for that...) He did get journey, astonished, and surrounded right though. :-) I just signed him up for football today; this will be his second year playing. Double-header games are supposed to begin on Saturday, September 27th. I will post a full schedule as soon as I get one.

Kayla is doing amazing at her homeschool program. We haven't had to push her to get her assignments done at all. Most of the times, she's had 90% of her work done long before the deadline. Not only that, but she's helping around the house and doing what's she's told, usually without any argument at all. It's blowing me away! I'm so glad things are working so well with this. I just hope it continues! Well, that's all for now, but will try to continue posting on a regular basis!! Love to all!

Our Trip to Fort Rapids

Over the long weekend, we had to opportunity to take the kids on a little mini-trip. We packed up the kids (and the dogs) and headed for Columbus. Luckily, 2 hours in the car with both kids and both dogs went quickly as we headed for my parents' house. They were kind enough to babysit the grand-dogs and we headed off for adventure. First, we spent a couple hours at COSI. Most of the time we were there, we were crime scene investigators. At the CSI exibit, we got to look for evidence, test DNA samples, identify shoe prints, and match fingerprints. We even got to identify what type of blood spatter we found at the crime scene. It was quite an experience!

Then we headed out to check into the hotel, but were still too early so we headed to BDs Mongolian Barbeque for lunch. I love that place!!! After eating entirely too much, we headed back to Fort Rapids and there the fun began!!

Fort Rapids is a resort with an indoor waterpark. So all weekend, we spent a TON of time going down slides, drifting down the lazy river and getting TONS of water dumped on our heads! It was the perfect trip with the kids. Both of them had a blast and didn't misbehave at all. I think it was probably the most fun we have had as a family all together. I can't wait to have another trip like this one!
